Introduction to the main safety requirements and explosion-proof functions of explosion-proof distribution boxes

Introduction to the main safety requirements and explosion-proof functions of explosion-proof distribution boxes. The maintenance procedures themselves.

The following explains the main safety requirements and introduction of explosion-proof distribution boxes.

For explosion-proof control, the reliability of explosion-proof distribution box equipment is very important. During operation, to prevent explosions and avoid losses to production equipment, preventive maintenance should be carried out. When repairing, components made of qualified materials should be installed using the correct methods. The maintenance procedures themselves should not create fire and explosion hazards. For welding and cutting, to reduce fire hazards, various changes in design and structural materials should be carefully examined for their impact on safety.

Secondly, the consequences of these changes throughout the equipment should be assessed. Minor changes on the surface may lead to unexpected explosion hazards. To avoid these explosion accidents, the safety and reliability of the distribution box must be ensured.

The wiring in the explosion-proof distribution box is neat, with no splicing phenomena. The wire connections are tight, without damaging the core wire or breaking. The cross-sectional area of the wires pressed on both sides of the washer screws is the same. No more than two wires should be connected to the same terminal. All parts such as anti-loosening washers are complete, and the wires are tightly connected. In the lighting cabinet, the neutral wire (N) and the protective ground wire (PE wire) busbars are set separately. The neutral wire and protective ground wire are distributed by the busbars. The verticality of the explosion-proof distribution box: for a box height below 50cm, the allowable deviation is 1.5mm; for a box height exceeding 50cm, the allowable deviation is 3mm. The lighting box should be firmly embedded, with the bottom edge 1.8m above the ground.

The switches inside the explosion-proof distribution box operate flexibly and reliably, and are equipped with leakage protection circuits. The action current of the leakage protection device should not exceed 30mA, and the action time should not exceed 0.1s. The metal frame of the explosion-proof distribution box should be reliably grounded (PE) or earthed (PEN). For doors that can be opened and are equipped with electrical appliances, the connection between the grounding terminals of the door and the door frame should use bare braided copper wire, and the door should be marked to prevent careless work by some electricians, lack of responsibility, and failure to strictly follow safety operating procedures, which could lead to electric shock.

How to achieve the explosion-proof function of the distribution box

The explosion-proof function of the explosion-proof distribution box refers to the ability to contain an explosion within the box, preventing chain reactions and external explosion spread, thus avoiding casualties and excessive property losses.

The explosion-proof distribution box mainly achieves the above explosion-proof function through the explosion-proof surface:

  1. The width of the explosion-proof surface is generally measured by the length of the flame channel. The width of the explosion-proof surface is defined as the shorter length from the inner wall of the box to the outer joint surface of the box, with explosion-proof standards ranging from 9.5mm to 12.5mm.

  2. The gap of the explosion-proof surface refers to the gap between the box's joint surfaces, mainly used to prevent sparks and flames generated after an explosion from spreading through the gap to the outside of the box.

  3. The smoothness of the explosion-proof surface. If the explosion-proof surface is rough, the gaps in the explosion-proof surface may inadvertently increase, affecting explosion-proof performance. It is prone to dust accumulation, leading to surface rust. Once an explosion occurs inside the box, high-temperature rust may be ejected under the action of the explosion flame, reducing explosion-proof performance. This is also one of the reasons to choose reputable manufacturers, as small manufacturers often have rough workmanship, and their products do not meet explosion-proof standards.

Alright, thank you all for watching, and see you next time.
